Modern Cabin on Crie Hill
About
Unwind at this secluded hillside hideaway. Perched above the valley with sweeping ridge views, this newly built cabin blends comfort with privacy. Begin your day soaking in the outdoor tub as morning mist drifts up from the valley below, or gather around the granite fire pit in the evening while grilling under the open sky. Designed with sustainability in mind, the retreat runs on solar power backed by a quiet propane generator to ensure a worry-free stay even on cloudy days.
Good to know
Tucked away in the hills of Midcoast Maine, the cabin is an ideal getaway. Located 15 minutes from St. George Lake. For those looking for day trips there are plenty of choices ! 30-45 minutes to the coastal towns of Belfast, Camden and Rockland, 40 minutes to Augusta, one hour 10 minutes to Bangor, one hour 40 minutes to Acadia and two hours to Bar Harbor. Crie Hill Cabin was built to feel spacious while occupying a small footprint. The cathedral ceilings double the volume of this refuge from the hustle and bustle of life. Large windows in the kitchen, living room, and the cozy loft bedroom offer views across the valley. The property is completely off-grid. Power is generated by six 375 watt solar panels and stored in a 7.5kwh battery, which is plenty for a couple days of usage if the sun isn't out. For extended cloudy periods there is a standby generator which will automatically recharge the battery in a short period. To conserve electricity, you will notice the water supply pressure will drop every few gallons because the well pump is a “slow start” model. The road coming up to the house, is a rocky dirt road, with a slight incline and it can be a little rough in spots. It’s totally drivable, but you’ll want to take it slow on the way up. SUV’s are recommended but not necessary. Once you’ve made it to the cabin, you’ll see why it’s worth the climb ! Embrace the rural charm ! Being in the woods means sharing our home with the local ecosystem; you might see the occasional ant or other small insect make its way inside. We do our best to keep the little critters outside. We kindly ask guests to be mindful of leaving food out and doors closed. Internet is provided through a 5G home internet service. The patio/deck area has a sunken granite fire pit (firestarters & firewood provided) which has surround seating perfect for watching the sunset over the mountains or stargaze with the provided telescope. For groceries, Tobey’s is 10 minutes away and Hannaford is 15 minutes away both in the town of China. Circle K gas (24hrs), John’s Ice Cream Factory & Lori’s Cafe are all in the same spot about 8 minutes away. Hi
Other Details to Note
The bed is in the loft, which is accessible by a ship's ladder. While most able-bodied adults will find this to be no problem, furry friends and small children will not be able to traverse the ladder safely. A baby gate is available for those who need it.
